The long awaited music is FINALLY here! Taylor Swift dropped a lyric video for her new single Look What You Made Me Do. Check it out:

The new music is DEFINITELY a new sound and I must say, it is dark and seemingly very different from songs in her 1989 album. In her new song, she writes about how somebody had made her look like a fool and how she came to get revenge. This sounds a lot like it is alluding to the Kanye and Kim drama that happened last year. If you remember, last year, Kanye released his song Famous, and it featured the lyrics “I feel me and Taylor still might have sex/ Why? I made that b**** famous” and Taylor was not happy about it and even responded in her speech after winning album of the year at the GRAMMYs, that “there are going to people along the way who try to undercut your success, or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame“, a very settle message towards Kanye. And ever since then, Kim released a recording of a phone call with her husband Kanye calling Taylor Swift and asking for her approval of the lyrics “I feel me and Taylor still might have sex” where in the video, she seemingly had no problem with the lyrics or the song. This led to many people calling Taylor a snake, pretending to not know about the song and its potentially offensive lyrics, which is what this song and the snakes in her videos are symbolic to. However, what Taylor really was offended by was the second half of the lyrics that were not mentioned in the phone call that is “I made that b**** famous”. Meanwhile, others think it may be about her feud with Katy Perry.

However, onto more exciting is that we can expect to see Taylor perform the song and the release of her new music video on Sunday, August 27 at the Video Music Awards (where Katy Perry is hosting, fingers crossed for them to make up?). Here is the teaser video:

From “I got a blank space” to “I got a list of names and yours is in red underlined”, the old Taylor, just like she says in her song, is dead! Welcome to the new era of Reputation, swifties! What do you guys think of her new song?
