Just as surprised and shocked as you are – Bachelor Alumni Clare Crawley was announced as 2020’s Bachelorette this morning on Good Morning America.

[SPOILER: Clare’s season is going to end in 3 episodes, read about Tayshia taking her place here]

So who is Clare Crawley? Clare has been in the franchise for a while, starring first as runner up in Juan Pablo’s season. She then went on to star in Bachelor in Paradise 1 & 2 and even got engaged on Bachelor Winter Games but ultimately broke off her engagement. Similar to Nick Viall, being the Bachelorette would mean this is her fourth time in a Bachelor show. However, given Nick’s record, fourth time may not always be the charm but who knows, maybe Clare can break that cycle. If you don’t know how to feel about Clare, here are some pros and cons to help you decide if you want to watch:

Pros:

•She’s been on the show before and can smell BS from far away

If you have ever watched Juan Pablo’s season or heard of him, you know that Clare had one of the most iconic moments in Bachelor Franchise by saying she would never want Juan Pablo to be the father of her children after being blindsided that made fans root for her.

•She’s at the right age

Hopefully that also means that the men would be older and are settled in their careers enough to not want the Instagram fame

Cons:

•Not relateable…yet?

Clare has been away from the Bachelor scene for a while. Her first appearance on The Bachelor was in 2014 which is 6 years ago. Not a lot of fans remember her except for the ones who have stayed for a very long time. Would Bachelor nation – especially the new fans want to stay and watch a Bachelorette whom they don’t recognize? Would younger fans want to watch love blossom from a generation of much older contestants? We will have to wait to find out.

•Clare has a history of attracting drama and has a bit ego – which is often why I  think she has not found anyone significant yet.

Bachelor paradise would be awkward – really young girls with really old men

This year, Peter’s season is known for having really young girls – most standout contestants being 23-26. However, since Clare is 39, it is likely that the majority of Clare’s batch of men are going to be at least 30+ which would make the age gap in Paradise really awkward. But hey, age is just a number right…
