Queen Sel has done it again! She slayed her way to the top of charts, and this time, even got the critics’ approval! Now, I’m no critic myself, but I have to say, this is her sexy era. Her album is full of dark, chic, hip and mysterious tones all mixed into one. It combines the feel of her old style/song lyrics but with a much older, new and cool vibe. As for each individual song, (you can get a sneak peak of every song here) well here is a breakdown, and keep in mind that these are all my opinion! :

Revival – Very expected type of song from Selena, and is a popular favourite amongst Selenators. It explores different pitches and melodies in the song. However, I don’t feel that the song is anything different or special.

Kill ‘Em With Kidness – This song has a very summer-y vibe to it. It also contains meaningful lyrics and overall, has a good message, which represents Selena well. However, personally, not my favourite.

Hands to Myself – This song brings out the mysterious vibe in Selena’s soft sounding vocals. I know this one is personally her bestie, Taylor’s favourite. You can check out the audio version of the song on Youtube.

Same Old Love A great, steady beat. Probably one of the catchiest songs in the album.

Sober – THE perfect breakup song, even maybe better than Taylor’s breakup songs :P. There is something really depressing, meaningful and so sad about this song. I think this song would be a great background music for a dramatic breakup scene in a movie or something. It is definitely my favourite song on the album.

Good For You – You obviously must have already heard this song already. It is very sexy, catchy and a good “getting ready” song. And despite the chorus line “I just want to look good for you”, I still think there’s something very empowering and feminine in the song. One of her best on the album.

Camoflauge – It is very meaningful and post-break up worthy, just like Sober, but less depressing. Maybe this one was inspired by Justin Bieber? It is another popular one amongst her fans. It also reminds of Demi Lovato’s songs on her Demi album.

Me and the Rhythm – A weird mixed vibe. Kind of sassy. Then kind of dark during her talking parts. Some parts are a bit cliche. I guess it’s meant to be more about releasing stress, than meaningful. A bit more fast-paced than most of her song. You can listen to it here.

Survivors – It has cool sound effects, especially when you listen with earphones. A good song to listen to if you’re feeling lonely.

Body Heat – Very unexpected song from Selena. It has a cool beat, and is a good dance song. Reminds me of Jlo. However, the lyrics are a bit too repetitive.

Rise – It is very inspirational, and powerful which is not typically expected from Selena. It also has a bit of weird talking parts at some point.

*Nobody – A good love song for you and your bae. <3

*Outta My Hands – Very sexy, another perfect getting ready song.

*Perfect –It is about the feeling of lust, and it reminds of “Teardrops on my guitar” by Taylor Swift.

*Colongne – A very sweet love song. Great to listen to when you’re by yourself.

*Me and My Girls – This makes me think  of Shakira and the Cheetah Girls all walking together into a club. Very “girl power” or “squad” like. There is not much melody and vocal range but the sick beat makes you want to party your ass off!

(*)These songs did not make it to the album, at least the standard edition ones.
