If you have been on TikTok lately, you might have heard this catchy song going around called ‘Mad at Disney’ by Salem Ilese:
The song was streaming at its highest – more than a million times a day, spurred by the trend of Tiktokers channeling different Disney characters.
The song is also popular due to its relatable message. Ilese explains to Rolling Stone, “I’m a big Disney fan — when I was four, I would walk around dressed like a princess on any random day of the week. [But] growing up you expect a prince and a white horse to come and rescue you from the tower. In reality, you get boys in high school who are scared of commitment and stand you up for a date.”
Ilese has been writing songs for a decade now and hopes to become a singer and songwriter who will inspire people with her words!
