Selena is a woman who wears many hats – from actor, to singer, philanthropist, and now founder of Rare Beauty but one thing is certain – she has remained a fashionista since the beginning of her career. Now, she sits down with Vogue and reminisces on her fashion from the past 14 years.
From her 2007 Disney Channel days, Selena says she chose her outfit and did her own makeup and hair. Like every teenager during the Paramore and Ashley Simpson phase, she thought this look was cool!
Selena next reminisces about one of her most iconic music videos “Love You Like a Love Song” where she got into an argument with her step-dad because of the amount of cleavage shown but says it’s still one of her favourite songs to date. She mentions how she was excited because she got to try high fashion for the first time and that her bestie Taylor inspired her a lot in terms of wardrobe and stage outfits.
Next, we see her Spring Breaker days to which she calls a fun chapter in her life as she got to step into a more challenging role as an actress.
She loved this look because it made her feel like a woman as opposed to her “kid” image that she always has.
Selena says she fluctuates a lot with her weight so when she wore a piece that fitted her body right, she was able to feel good and not care about her weight gain.
She felt great in this outfit as everything was coming together right!

Selena goes in depth about the challenges of touring. In terms of fashion, she says a female singer is expected to have multiple looks that not only pop but it has to be comfortable enough to dance in. She also mentions how emotionally challenging touring it is for her but the stage is the best feeling in the whole world!
Selena says this is her favourite outfit that she’s ever worn because it was the first time people were seeing her after a long break in rehab. It was also simple and she felt really comfortable with minimal makeup and jewellery.
She loved this coach sweater so much that it became basically her everyday look.
She felt really confident with this look. She didn’t want to look like a teenager and loved how sexy it is, plus went on a cute date that night.
She felt really good in this dress because her weight had fluctuated a lot and she didn’t want to wear anything tight.
As she got older, Selena tries to make fashion with comfort!
She loved this look and wanted something vibrant. She actually designed this look with her team!
